The shakes in the shop are built on Boris FX Sapphire's S_Shake effect, so you need Sapphire installed. A short shake landing exactly on a beat or a hit is what makes an edit feel punchy.

Mark the beats

  1. Select your music layer and play it back.
  2. Press * on the numeric keypad (or Layer > Add Marker) on each beat you want to hit.
  3. Use these markers to line up your shakes.

Add the shake

  1. Create an adjustment layer above your footage.
  2. Apply a hit shake (BD Shake 01–10) to it.
  3. Move the adjustment layer so it starts on a beat marker.
  4. Trim its end so the shake lasts only as long as the hit: usually a few frames.

Constant shakes

The four Constant shakes keep moving for as long as the layer lasts. Use one under a build-up, then cut to a hit shake on the drop.
